As North Americans focus on remembering WWII, the entertainment industry adds their own tribute, with films such as Enemy at the Gate and Pearl Harbor. Now, Strategy First (www.strategyfirst.com) and Playnet.com allow gamers to revisit one of the most influential wars of the 20th Century, as they ship the highly anticipated World War II Online - Blitzkrieg to stores nationwide.

"Strategy First couldn't be happier that this day has finally come, " says Don McFatridge, President of Strategy First. "WWII Online™ has received tremendous support from gamers around the world. We can't wait for people to get online and start experiencing it. It is truly a unique experience!"

“Everyone at CRS and Playnet.com are proud of our accomplishments in getting to this important day. A day that finds us feeling privileged to be joining with players from around the globe in making gaming history, “ says Jim Mesteller, President and C.E.O. of Playnet Inc.

WWII Online: Blitzkrieg is a massively multiplayer online game of WWII combat, fought on land, air, and sea. Players can command tanks, pilot combat aircraft, or fight "down and dirty" in the infantry or marines. Complete with a combat system that requires the three main branches of service to interact and organize together in order to gain ground, or fight off an attack from the enemy, WWII Online is the first true combined virtual battlefield available online. Players can tailor their game play experience to a degree of detail that has never been available before. A player's ability and experience can be leveraged on a "career path", which can lead to high command positions within a specific branch of service. Yet, within this same system, WWII Online still supports a player who simply wants to log on for a fight without concern for rank or power.

WWII Online: Blitzkrieg is a groundbreaking title as it sets a new trend in the industry by introducing the first truly cross-genre massively multiplayer online game. The uniqueness of this game comes from the fact that a player is offered the combination of first person shooter, simulation, role-playing and strategy styled game play. Players from around the world will be able to play side by side in a truly persistent environment where battles are fought 24 hours a day, every day of the year!

Over the course of its development, WWII Online will implement multiple interconnected theaters representing the global conflict of WWII. Each theater will be thousands of square kilometers in size and have the capacity to handle thousands of combatants at one time. The theater to debut in WWII Online's first release will be Western Europe in 1940 (Blitzkrieg). All of the combat theaters will follow along the historical time-line of the war, with North Africa, China Burma India, the Russian Front in ‘41 and others to follow.

World War II Online: Blitzkrieg will be distributed throughout North America by Infogrames and throughout Europe and Asia by Strategy First's other distribution partners. Suggested retail price $39.99 US with a monthly online subscription fee of $9.99 US (retail box includes one free month of online subscription).
